Home school versus Formal Education
Some parents believe that home school will be more productive than a formal education and it will be a driving factor for their kids to excel in all disciplines. Parents would have pre planned to home school their kids or they would have decided it all of a sudden due to various reasons. Teachers in a private or public school implement the same style of teaching in a classroom of several students. Some kids find it useful but the others find it boring and uninteresting. It's not possible to use a different approach for each and every student in a classroom whereas in home school, parents can prepare tailor made methods for teaching their kids. There are no hard core rules to be followed. Children can concentrate more on the subjects they are interested in rather than being forced to study the subjects in which they have no interest at all.
Home school is a great challenge faced by parents. Children feel more comfortable studying in a warm and pleasing environment. In a private or public school and formal education a child may get distracted by the other kids around him. Peer pressure will have a great influence on the child. There are chances for kids to get into drugs and other illegal habits. At home, parents teach their children to be disciplined, self motivated and confident. Children learn how to be united and they also learn more about teamwork when they do projects with other kids who belong to the same age group. If a child is being educated in a private setting, it's difficult to have a control over him/her but on the other hand when it comes to home school, parents can keep an eye on their kids so that they do not inculcate any bad habits.
Children need to work on huge assignments and take up long tests in a private school. A lot of pressure will discourage the students whereas a home school will provide them lots of freedom to learn at their own pace. Kids can grasp information more quickly when they focus on the subjects they have interest in. Talking about home school, there are less chances of socialization for kids but they can play and work on projects with other kids who are home schooled. They miss taking part in competitions and excursion trips. At a private school, it's difficult to pay attention to each and every child whereas at home, parents have a check on the diet plan and the habits of their children.
Every system has its own pros and cons, be it home school or formal education. At private and public schools, skilled and trained teachers are appointed to teach students whereas this is not the case with parents who home school their kids. Some parents struggle to home school their children if it's their first experience. Proper resources should be made available to the child by the parents so that children can exploit them to excel in academics. Since there are no hardcore rules in home school, children take advantage of the freedom given to them. At times, certain kids get up late and cover very few lesson plans daily, ultimately leading to kids getting lethargic.
